Hell of a week

The days of this week just seemed to run into each other. Put in 700 miles almost each day last week. Saturday was only 450 miles though. I had a front tire blow out that killed 3 1/2 hours, so I had to shut down before where I wanted to.

Lets see. I left Kingman Arizona Tuesday last week. Week had called me at 7am to tell me what truck I was going to be in, and informed me that the truck would not be in the yard for about another 3 hours. My thought, why the hell are you calling me now then? But anyway. So that should have my truck in the yard around 10am, and I need to be in Reno at 10:30 am Wednesday, being an 11 hour drive and wanting a 10 hour break before delivering I need to be able to leave the yard by 1:30 pm Tuesday. So I get to work around noon and end up hanging out for about 3 hours while they are changing the starter. Which wound up getting me to Reno around 2am. Giving me an 8 hour break, law says I have to take a 10 hour break. But didn't get one of those all week long. I was able to get to the customers before taking my breaks though. Making it look like I was able to get legal breaks in.

So after delivery in Reno, I was given a run with 5 pickups. Salinas, Santa Maria, Oxnard, Thermal California and Yuma Arizona. Which I pick up these stops them take the load back to Kingman. Where another driver will grab that load and run it to the New Mexico, Texas border. That a break and bring back another trailer that I'll end up doing the delivery and reload to restart the whole proses. But just before I got to Yuma Arizona I was told to go ahead and run this load to Texas. Which I get paid by the mile, so I don't mind running the miles. Except for the fact that it's now Thursday night and I only have clean clothes for one more day.

Friday morning. Now it's time to get up and run to Texas, which is about 850 miles and I'm limited to 700. So somewhere between 600 and 700 miles I'm sitting in Tularosa New Mexico. Originally I was told to go to Amarillo, which would get me thru Roswell, New Mexico. Never been and want to go. Cool... get half way thru Arizona and am told to go to the usual turn around spot. Glenrio New Mexico. No more Roswell, Bummer. Maybe next time.

Saturday morning. Actually my first 10 hour break of the week. Get rolling out of Tularosa to Glenrio. I don't remember what time I got there. but my trailer was sitting there waiting for me. I swapped trailers and hauled ass. 64.5 mph. Got about 100 miles and as I was passing a slower truck I started smelling rubber. As I was pulling over the drivers side front tire shot off the rim, rolled across the highway, the center median and the east bound side. I just watched in amazement as I yanked the steering wheel to pull over.

Lost three hours waiting for a tire. Wound up staying in Moriarty New Mexico for the night, then ran into Kingman on Sunday. Getting home round 6 pm Sunday. Letting work know that I didn't have enough hours available to work Monday, which works out good. Being Memorial Day, and
I want to Bar-B-Que. But go figure. Around noon Monday they called to get me into work. Luckily I wasn't near my phone, so I couldn't cus them out. But i did grab a beer and started my Memorial Day.

I was really expecting them to call today, but they never did. I'm starting a new job next week, so if they call tomorrow I'll work. If they don't I guess I'm done. Considering Friday will be my last day. One thing that really pissed my last week was while I was rolling from Santa Maria to Thermal, I stopped at this vista point to take some pictures. When I got back into the truck, they had sent me a message. " Are you rolling" I told them I thought I'd go surfing and asked if they knew somewhere I could get a board. Then I stopped in Augora Hills for some El Pollo Loco. Another message. So I asked if they were going to message me every time I had to piss, and should I let them know when I was going to piss? Didn't hear from them again.
